Dear Collin County Voter,

Thank you for visiting my website, and thank you for the trust you have placed in me by electing me to serve as your Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 1.  After being sworn in on November 12, 2014 to fulfill an unexpired term, I have worked hard to fulfill my campaign promises and earn your continued support. I began this journey with a proven track record of fighting for our core conservative principles, and I'm so very thankful to have had the opportunity to fulfill my campaign promises to you, and continue serving after being re-elected in 2016 and 2020.  I am now running for re-election in 2024 for my third full-term.

Combining my business experience, my passion for public service and dogged determination to fight for the taxpayers, I have maintained my focus on infrastructure and transportation, as well as working with our city leadership to develop conservative solutions to economic development.  This has helped to ensure a healthy business climate, which in turn grows our tax base and brings jobs for our citizens.  In fact, I have traveled twice - on my own dime, attending two national economic development conventions, promoting all that Collin County has to offer.  As we continue to attract new businesses and company headquarters, we will shorten work commutes, as we grow in population.  It's all part of responsible growth, with the goal of you having more time at home, instead of on the road.

Another of my key platform positions included supporting our public safety officials and law enforcement, helping to ensure that our first-responders, prosecutors and those who support our courts would seek to not only be trained here, but stay here as a career choice.  As we approach compensation and benefits, we should also strive to be competitive in the local job market, attracting and retaining the best workforce possible to serve our citizens.  I am thankful for the opportunity to support these positions and you can count on me to maintain my commitment.

I have also remained a stalwart conservative, fighting for the values we hold so dear, such as low taxes, protecting life, our individual liberties and free markets.   Since taking office in November 2014, I have been a part of lowering your county tax rate over 35%.  We passed an "Effective Tax Rate" also known as the "No New Taxes Rate" for six straight years in a row - which basically recognizes the value of your home has increased, so we lower the rate reciprocally in order to collect the SAME amount, depending on new growth to make up the difference in inflation and added expenses. whenever possible.  I realize it's YOUR money, and it's my responsibility to be a good steward of it!  However, whenever paying for core functions of government services are necessary, I have supported the necessary improvements.

President Reagan inspired my generation to get involved and to become part of the solution. He challenged us all when he said “All of us came here because we knew the country could not go on the way it was going. So it falls to all of us to take action. We have to ask ourselves if we do nothing, where does all of this end? Can anyone here say that if we can’t do it, someone down the road can do it, and if no one does it, what happens to the country? I know it’s going to be a challenge, but ask yourselves if not us, who, if not now, when?”  This is what led me to get involved back in the 1990's, and it has kept me involved ever since.  Desire for change is not enough - it's like leaning on a shovel, and praying for a hole.  You just have to roll up your sleeves and find out how you can affect the change you desire.  As for me, this desire eventually led me to run for public office, but there are many ways to get involved - so don't give up!

In closing, I am humbled by the endorsements and support I have received.  Additionally, I would be honored to have you on my team as well, and together, we can ensure that Collin County continues to be the “jewel” of North Texas.
